While the acronym remains, we made the decision to replace “Arbitration” with “ADR” (Alternative Dispute Resolution), to give significance to the journey made to develop the ADR industry as a whole. As a multi-service global hub for ADR, the KLRCA strives, more now than ever, to ensure exceptional developments across all dispute resolution methods”, said Datuk Professor Sundra Rajoo, Director of KLRCA.
He also added that through the initiatives of the delegates at KLIAW 2017, the ADR scene in Asia and beyond will see a rapid development in fulfilling the needs of an international competitive economy.
Gracing the launch of KLIAW 2017 were The Honourable Azalina Othman Said (Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department), His Excellency Professor Dr. Kennedy Gastorn (Secretary General of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organisation (AALCO)), Mr Fali S Nariman (Indian Constitutional jurist) and Li Yanbing (Vice Chairman of CALCC, Deputy Director of Hainan Arbitration Commission).
“The KLRCA with guidance and support of the Malaysian Government is evidently and effectively establishing itself as a multi-service global hub for ADR. This is largely attributed to its proactive approach of keeping up to date with the trends and continued upgradation of its rules and services”, added The Honourable Azalina Othman Said, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.
More than two hundred delegates, from across the world, have converged here in Kuala Lumpur to participate in a series of enterprising discussions covering current issues and challenges faced throughout the International ADR landscape, and to chart out workable formulas for a truly effective, impartial and sustainable international ADR regime.
