Visit By Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration (NCIA)
24 June 2014 – KLRCA had the pleasure of hosting its African counterpart, the Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration (NCIA) at its premise for an official visit. The Nairobi Centre that was recently operationalised by The Office of the Attorney General, Kenya – is officially the fifth centre to be set up under the auspices of the Asian-African Consultative Organization (AALCO). Mr Arthur Igeria, Chair of the Board of NCIA dropped by Tuesday morning and was accompanied by five other delegates; Mr Lawrence Muiriri Ngugi, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of NCIA, Ms Muthoni Kimani, the Senior Deputy Solicitor General of Kenya as well as officers from the Attorney General’s Chambers.
The distinguished delegates were welcomed by KLRCA’s Director, Professor Datuk Sundra Rajoo for a brief introductory discussion over morning tea. Mr Faris Shehabi, KLRCA’s Deputy Head of Legal Services then took to the floor to present a comprehensive coverage on KLRCA’s background, functions and methods of operation. Both parties discussed on ways to forge partnerships as well as initiate collaborative activities between KLRCA and NCIA. The enterprising visit concluded with both sets of senior officials adjourning to the current work site of KLRCA’s imminent brand new building, Bangunan Sulaiman for an extensive tour around the state of the art facility.
