The recent global pandemic and national level lockdowns have left countless affected, with the impact still being felt through the strains in our economy as well as our day-to-day livelihood. Athletes, coaches, team officials and other sports personnel were similarly not spared.

Much has been said about commercial disputes arising from the pandemic and the same can be said about sporting disputes with unpaid salaries, postponed tournaments, etc. amongst key issues. In the absence of qualified legal representatives appearing for them before sports tribunals, the rights and interests of these athletes are further at stake given the specialist nature of sports law.

In this session, we have Mr. Richard Wee (Richard Wee Chambers) and Ms. Susanah Ng (Susanah Ng & Associates) offering us first-hand insight on the role of Pro-Bono Counsels. The speakers will also share with us their knowledge, practical experiences and challenges faced in providing pro-bono legal advice to these sports personnel.
