ADR Online - An AIAC Webinar Series - Current State of World Trade: A Level Playing Field
The COVID-19 pandemic presents an unprecedented challenge and affects all walks of life. The quantum of the impact is hard to determine at this stage, although based on preliminary assessment and considering the dramatic steps enacted so far by governments worldwide, it is expected to be severe. Many factories worldwide have closed their doors, but shipping and postal services have been deemed essential services. Although investors are unsure how long the market will suffer from the pandemic, countries and businesses are finding ways to ensure the economies weather the storm, such as the WTO’s multi-party interim appeal arrangement. The UN has also urged countries to ease sanctions in light of the pandemic.
