International Dispute Resolution Conference 2019: New Era of Global Corporation
As one of the supporting organisations, it is our pleasure to invite you to the International Dispute Resolution Conference 2019 (“Conference”) to be held on 17 April 2019 (Wed) at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The 1-day Conference is jointly organized by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (“UNCITRAL”), Hong Kong Mediation Centre (“HKMC”) and International Dispute Resolution & Risk Management Institute (“IDRRMI”) in collaboration with the Department of Justice (“DoJ”).
On 20 December 2018, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation (“Mediation Convention”). It creates fair and effective approach to resolve international/cross-border commercial disputes and it particularly helps in efficiently enforcing the settlement agreements across the border. It opens up enormous business opportunities for enterprises and dispute resolution professions. Themed “New Era of Global Collaboration”, the Conference aims to foster discussion on emerging trends in dispute resolution and the impact of the Mediation Convention on international business environment.
The Conference will be officiated by the Hon Mrs Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, GBM, GBS, Chief Executive of the HKSAR, Ms. Anna Joubin-Bret, Secretary of UNCITRAL and Dr. Francis Law, the President of HKMC and the Chairman of IDRRMI. Over 20 world renowned practitioners, academics and senior government officials have been invited to share their insights on various important topical issues.
Participants will receive 7.5 CPD points accredited by HKMC and IDRRMI. Application for accreditation to the Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited (“HKMAAL”) and the Law Society of Hong Kong are under way. Please note that the Conference will be conducted in English and Putonghua; simultaneous English and Putonghua interpretation will be provided. Attached please find the flyer for your kind reference.
