Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Mohamed Apandi bin Ali

The Honourable Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Mohamed Apandi bin Ali is the current Attorney General of Malaysia and the Chairman of the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA) Advisory Board.

Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Mohamed Apandi graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of London in 1972 and obtained his Bar-at-Law from the Inner Temple London in 1973. In 1981, he was awarded a Certificate of Legal Drafting from the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, London.

He began his career in the Malaysian Judicial and Legal Service in 1973 as a Magistrate at the Magistrates’ Court, Kuala Terengganu. In 1975, he was appointed as Director, Legal Aid Bureau in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. In 1977, he held the position of Deputy Public Prosecutor for the States of Kelantan and Terengganu. In 1980, he was appointed as the Legal Advisor for the Ministry of Trade and Industry Malaysia. Between 1982 and 2003, he was an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya at Messrs. Apandi & Co. In 2003, he was appointed as a Judicial Commissioner of the High Court of Malaya, Kuantan. On 21 December 2004, he was appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Malaya, Kuantan. On 15 February 2007, he was a Judge of the High Court of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. On 14 April 2010, he was elevated to Judge of the Court of Appeal, Putrajaya. On 30 September 2013, he was appointed as a Judge of the Federal Court, Putrajaya.

On 27 July 2015, he was appointed as the Attorney General of Malaysia.

With more than 40 years of illustrious experience and knowledge in the judiciary sector, Tan Sri’ Sri Haji Mohamed Apandi is the recipient of numerous accolades including Darjah Kebesaran Mahkota Pahang Yang Amat Mulia Peringkat Kedua Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (D.I.M.P.) (2004), Darjah Kebesaran Mahkota Pahang Yang Amat Mulia Peringkat Pertama Sri Indera Mahkota Pahang (S.I.M.P.) (2005), Ahli Yang Kedua (Dato’ Paduka) Bagi Darjah Kebesaran Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Mulia (D.P.M.K.) (2011), Darjah Kebesaran Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang Yang Amat Dimulia – Peringkat Pertama Sri Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (S.S.A.P.) (2011), Ahli Yang Pertama (Seri Paduka) Bagi Darjah Kebesaran Setia Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Terbilang (S.P.S.K.) (2013) and Darjah Kebesaran Panglima Setia Mahkota (P.S.M.) (2014).
