International Malaysia Law Conference 2016
The International Malaysia Law Conference (“IMLC”), a flagship event of the Malaysian Bar, will be held at The Royale Chulan Hotel Kuala Lumpur, advantageously located within the nation’s corporate and cultural hub, from 21 to 23 September 2016. The conference, showcasing renowned and Malaysian speakers, will set out to chart the future of Malaysia’s legal landscape.
Since the then – Prime Minister Tun Abduk Razak Hussein launched the inaugural Malaysian Law Conference in 1971, the legal profession has witnessed significant and dynamic growth, with lawyers taking on greater relevance in business, finance and international relations.
The rebirth of the Malaysian Law Conference as the International Malaysia Law Conference in 2012 was a turning point in the history of the series, as it established a new paradigm in the present era of increasing globalisation.
The theme of IMLC 2016, “Challenges of an ASEAN Community: Rule of Law, Business, and Being People-Oriented”, reflects the coming into existence of an ASEAN Community in 2015. IMLC 2016 will provide a platform for lawyers, business leaders, and civil society organisations to discuss the impact of an ASEAN Community and how it transforms legal practice, business, security, and the well-being of its peoples.
