Conflict, Claims and Construction Disputes: Adjudication Leading the Way
On 14th November, a lecture on conflict, claims and construction disputes was given by Datuk Professor Sundra Rajoo at the University of Malaya, addressing the legal issues that may come up in one of the most important sectors of the Malaysian economy, the construction industry, this lecture will analyse alternatives that are provided for the stakeholders in the marketplace to resolve and prevent disputes. Contractual interpretation and payment disputes, among others, are very common in this area and likely to multiply in the future as the market share grows.
Roadshow 2.0: Understanding and Using the Standard Form of Building Contracts
On 15th August 2017, the KLRCA launched its own suit of building contracts, the KLRCA Standard Form of Building Contracts (SFC), becoming the first arbitral institution in the world to do so. Following the launch and the first series of Roadshows in the states of Johor, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak from 21st August 2017 till 13th September 2017, the KLRCA scheduled a second series of Roadshows, Roadshow 2.0.
